National Health Systems Resource Centre

National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) has been set up under the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) of Government of India to serve as an apex body for technical assistance. Established in 2006, the National Health Systems Resource Centre's mandate is to assist in policy and strategy development in the provision and mobilization of technical assistance to the states and in capacity building for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) at the centre and in the states.The goal of this institution is to improve health outcomes by facilitating governance reform, health systems innovations and improved information sharing among all stake holders at the national, state, district and sub-district levels through specific capacity development and convergence models. It has a 23 member Governing Body, chaired by the Secretary, MoHFW, Government of India with the Mission Director, NRHM as the Vice Chairperson of the GB and the Chairperson of its Executive Committee. Of the 23 members, 14 are ex-officio senior health administrators, including four from the states. Nine are public health experts, from academics and Management Experts. The Executive Director, NHSRC is the Member Secretary of both the Governing body and the Executive Committee. NHSRC's annual governing board meet sanctions its work agenda and its budget. The NHSRC currently consists of seven divisions – Community Processes, Healthcare Financing, Healthcare Technology, Human Resources for Health, Public Health Administration, Knowledge Management Division, Quality Improvement in Healthcare The NHSRC has a branch office in the north-east region of India. The North East Regional Resource Centre (NE RRC) has functional autonomy and implements a similar range of activities.

Tirath Ram Shah Hospital, Delhi-India

Tirath Ram Shah Hospital is a 200 bedded multi super specialty hospital run by a charitable trust and located in the heart of capital city Delhi surrounded with greenery not only outside but also in the vast courtyard of the hospital and roof-top and spread over built-up-area of about one lac sq. ft. in a three storied building. Tirath Ram Shah Hospital was inaugurated in 1955 by Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The hospital is accredited by NABH & NABL. In 2014 hospital celebrated its diamond jubilee. The hospital provides treatment to patient coming from lower Socio-Economic Strata. Tirath Ram Shah Hospital was perhaps one of the two or three hospitals of that size in the private charitable sector in Northern India. It soon became a landmark in the health care delivery scenario of Delhi with people like Col. V R Mirarjkar, a famous surgeon from Lahore and Col. Ameer Chand, an eminent figure of medicine in north India together with Rai Bahadur Dr. Mathura Das Pahwa the famed Eye surgeon of Punjab. The Idea of constituting a charitable trust to run a hospital was envisaged for the first time in 1949 just after the partition of the country. At this juncture the city of Delhi had just started to grow and was in the theories of multi dimensional expansion. A charitable trust was created by a famous industrial family of Sawhneys, initiated by Lala Ishwer Das Sawhney. He was head of the family at that time to commemorate the memory of their ancestors late Lala Tirath Ram Shah.
