Institute for Sustainable Communities

ISC is an international, non-profit organization that works to support communities by creating, implementing, and scaling equitable climate change solutions for communities at the frontline of the global climate crisis. Our unique, bottom-up approach ensures solutions emerge from within communities, rather than being imposed from the outside. By sharing international best practices and experiences, providing technical expertise and training, and building the capacity of local organizations, we support innovative solutions and sustainable change. We address the root causes of climate change impacts by building community knowledge and skills, strengthening governance, and diversifying the field of sustainability professionals. Our approach incorporates capacity building, technical assistance delivery, knowledge products, climate change action planning, and peer learning.

A Place Called Home (APCH) is a safe haven in South Central Los Angeles where under-served youth are empowered to take ownership of the quality and direction of their lives through programs in education, arts and well-being, and are inspired to make a meaningful difference in their communities and the world. Core programs work in conjunction with one another to support APCH members in avoiding destructive behaviors by developing life skills and providing motivation to overcome adversity, make healthy, productive choices and take advantage of the opportunities which lie before them. Asian Americans Advancing Justice Southern California (AJSOCAL) is the nation’s largest Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) legal and civil rights organization, serving more than 15,000 individuals and organizations every year. We are committed to defending AAPI voting rights and ensuring every eligible voter has access to the ballot box during this 2024 election season. Our mission is to advocate for civil rights, provide legal services and education, and build coalitions to positively influence and impact Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders and to create a more equitable and harmonious society. Through direct legal services, impact litigation, policy analysis and advocacy, leadership development and capacity building, we seek to serve the most vulnerable members of the AAPI community while also building a strong AAPI voice for civil rights and social justice. With our Advancing Justice affiliates in Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., we have enacted a sweeping range of programs on critical national issues that enrich, enhance and serve our communities all across the country.
