Bankia es el nombre de la entidad participada al 100 % por el Banco Financiero y de Ahorros. Es el primer banco español por negocio doméstico, con unos activos totales de 272.000 millones de euros y un valor patrimonial de 12.000 millones de euros. El banco se constituyó el 3 de diciembre de 2010 y comenzó a operar el 1 de enero de 2011. La fusión de las siete cajas se realizó en sólo cuatro meses, ya que el contrato de integración se firmó el 30 de julio de 2010.
