Growing up, I lived in the suburbs of Bonita, CA. From the ages of ten to thirteen, I spent time in Dent County, MO, on a farm and raised cattle and pigs. I attended college on an ROTC scholarship and spent my first years as an Infantry Officer in the US Army. From there, I transferred branches to Military Intelligence in preparation for promotion to Captain before I achieved the rank of Major before leaving active Reserves and National Guard.
I base my leadership style on my military skills and training. During my experiences at Army Ranger School, the least senior individual on the team were as meaningful to the mission as the most senior and experienced members! Each member is a critical piece of the puzzle.
I dedicate my career to solving problems. As an Investigative Sergeant, my investigators brought cases for review where victims were hesitant to prosecute, evidence wasn’t as convincing as it could be, or mistakes occurred during the preliminary investigation. It was my job to determine whether the case could go further or whether we needed to accept our losses and move on. Additionally, I was the mentor and informal leader to the patrol sergeants working in my area. As a military officer, during peacetime and wartime, it was my job to analyze the situation and determine the best way to attack the problem.
In my free time, I am an enthusiastic golfer. I have served as an assistant coach for the boy's golf team at a local high school and have played golf at Point Loma College and the University of San Diego.
Additionally, I have volunteered as a golf mentor for kids through the Pro-Kids Golf Academy and have been a volunteer boy's golf coach for the Boys Rancho Bernardo High School Golf Team since 2015.
