About
RV Sridhar has joined as President & CEO, JSP Downstream Business. This 3.4MTPA CRM complex is based at Angul, Odisha and would be operational starting from March/April 2024, and is slated to expand significantly to a much higher volume. The business covers a range of products like CRCA, HDGI, GL, GA, ZAM®, as well as Prepainted steel; and caters to Domestic as well as Export markets with focus on Automotives, White Goods & Construction.
Earlier, as ED & CEO (Coated) at ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India, he managed one of their significant business units covering an annual turnover of Rs. 14,000 Crores and Production, Sales and Operations covering 5MTPA of Steel, across five plants and two countries.
Previously as ED & CEO of Essar Steel Precoated Facility, Mr. Sridhar turned around the business from being a loss maker to one of Essar Steel’s most profitable SBUs through Process Innovation and Working Capital Management. He consistently achieved >97% plant utilization, the highest customer satisfaction index and an enviable employee engagement index of 84%. He has also been conferred the Steel CEO of the Year 2017 award by the Steel Users Federation of India.
Prior to this, he was the Global Business Head of Essar’s Rs. 7000 Cr Downstream & Auto Division, one of India’s largest Downstream Businesses. With an excellent record in building high performance teams and over 30 years in the steel industry covering both public/private sectors, he also holds extensive experience of Africa having worked for 4 years with the East African steel major MRM Ltd.
Mr. Sridhar has travelled to over 80 countries and has presented papers at many steel conferences with critical acclaim. With extensive WTO/Anti-dumping/Anti-subsidy experience having handled investigations against Indian steel exports to Indonesia/Europe, he was also the sole private sector representative for Kenya in WTO’s 5th Ministerial Conference at Mexico.
He has also worked with the International Trading Division at Tata Steel & SAIL. He re-engineered Tata Steel Outbound logistics models as part of the Booz Allen Hamilton team, achieving significant cost reduction. He has Spearheaded 8 QIPs in Tata Steel, winning MD/VP awards.
He holds Masters in International Business from IIFT, New Delhi and is a Physics Post-graduate in Quantum Electronics, Fibre Optics & Communications. He has won many academic spurs during his career & was the topper at his PG University, English in AISSCE, and at School. As a person, He is hardworking, enterprising & creative, takes pride in his work and thrives on challenges.
