About
Scott Brown is the Founder and Chairman of New Energy Capital, the first private equity fund manager dedicated to clean energy infrastructure investing. Scott was the President, CEO and Managing Partner of New Energy Capital Partners from 2004-2021. NECP was acquired by Victory Capital Management in 2021.
From 1989 to 1992, Scott was the Executive Vice President of Solar Cells, Inc. and President of Glasstech Solar, Inc., the sister companies that became First Solar, Inc. From 1999-2005, Scott was a member of the National Advisory Council of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
Since 2004, New Energy Capital has been a leading investor in a wide variety of clean energy technologies and business models, including biofuels, fuel cells, landfill gas projects, transmission assets, solar and wind projects, and renewable project developers.
Prior to his work in the renewable energy sector, Scott was a founding member of the Harvard Negotiation Project and the President of Conflict Management Group, a non-profit international negotiation consulting company. HNP and CMG worked with leaders from Iran, South Africa, Sudan, El Salvador, Peru, Colombia, Ecuador, and the former Soviet Union to facilitate peaceful management of conflict. CMG was acquired by Mercy Corps in 2001.
Scott is a former Chairman of the Board of Mercy Corps, an international relief and development NGO that operates in more than 40 countries with more than 4000 employees. Scott is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Harvard Law School.
