Sonya L. Clauson is the Public Information/Education Officer for Greater Harris County 9-1-1 Emergency Network (GHC 9-1-1) where she has worked for over 25 years. Ms. Clauson is responsible for the development and distribution of educational messages, and programs on 9-1-1 and services within the GHC 9-1-1 territory (49 cities, 2 Counties). She serves as the media representative handling all media inquiries, and provides public relations support to all facets of the GHC 9-1-1 staff and board of managers.
During her career she has collaborated with 9-1-1 educators throughout the public safety industry and implemented educational campaigns on numerous issues relating to accessing emergency communications including wireless phase II, text to 9-1-1, and education of Kari’s Law in Texas. She also serves as chair of NENA’s Communications Committee and Working Groups to inform members of 9-1-1 education resources. She is also on the NENA Women in 9-1-1 Committee and was a founding member of the 9-1-1 Public Educators of Texas.
