About
Sylvia P Sportswear started in 1994, when I needed to create a beautiful, stand-out leotard for my 8-year-old gymnast daughter, Sandra. Originally from Austria, our family always had a passion for the bright and beautiful world of gymnastics. After making the move to Australia in ’92, I found it hard to purchase gymnastics or athletic wear that was comfortable and looked good.
I took matters into my own hands, purchased 50 centimetres of fluorescent yellow material from a local Brisbane fabric shop, borrowed an overlocker and zigzag sewing machine from a neighbourhood friend, and spent many hours learning to sew. Sandra wore her leotard to training and soon other parents asked me to make leotards for their daughters. And then it built, from one leotard to a team of 30 wonderful staff, a manufacturing office in Capalaba, and many young girls across the world who feel proud to wear Sylvia P.

Created in 2013, Sylvia P Practice Wear is the MUST HAVE training wear for gymnasts and active girls everywhere. Our high quality, functional gymnastics gear screams fashion, but delivers on comfort too. Our designs vary from bright, fun and iconic prints, to classic designs with a twist— we never disappoint! We collaborate with inspirational ambassadors that bring positive energy and empowerment into the lives of girls everywhere.
