Since high school, I've been told that I have a flair for writing. I mean, I thought I was going to move to New York City and write for Vogue magazine - which didn't happen. So, I decided to go to college to learn about various writing styles, techniques, read poetry, and eventually creative writing. I attended college right after high school because I was eager to learn these skills and grow as a writer, but something told me to major in journalism - so I did. Now, as a first generation college graduate, I have a bachelor's in journalism and an associate's in sociology.
I've always been the type of person who loved to learn new skills and apply them to create the next big thing. That means entering a new industry without prior knowledge, or working on a project that requires skills I have yet to acquire. The point is - learning new skills along the way is not a bad thing, and sometimes we impress ourselves. That's why I enjoy learning new things, sharing a fresh perspective, and building off what I already know while deciding how I can apply the skills I already have to a project.
I interned as a copywriter in the home financing industry with no prior experience or knowledge, yet I learned the value of communication, collaboration, and creative writing. I'm a reporter who learned how to interview and write various news/feature stories on diverse topics. I'm a self-taught social media manager who learned how to write and curate social media posts, use hashtags correctly, learn new methods from influencers, and create images that leave audiences wanting more. Not to mention that I gained even more credibility as a reporter through freelance reporting.
The main thing about me is that I'm always driven and motivated, but I'm also not afraid of a challenge and look for new opportunities where I can continue to grow as a writer.
